Be it a subdued engagement party or a more risque bachelor or bachelorette party, there are going to be some favors and gifts given out. You can get the future husband or wife a gift chosen from a lot of different options at these gatherings. My husband and I received some pretty awesome gift items. Some of the things we got were quite innovative, while most of the people at our engagement party just gave us cash, which was alright with us, every little bit helps when you are just started out. Many of the presents we received from our friends and family were small items, like champagne for our wedding, gift cards, sports tickets, and theater tickets. A lot of our loved ones gave us presents, even though it was not required for engagement parties.
The guys at the bachelor party got my fiance a shirt that said ‘I survived my bachelor party, but I don’t remember how,’ along with some other crazy shirts and things. He also received as a groomsman gift, a groom sun visor, a mug with the word groom printed on it and a wine gift set. Plus he got a few things that were gag gifts, like the inflatable lady they handcuffed him too, and the ball and chain they made him wear for the party. He got other mock bride wedding gifts besides, that gave them all some laughs. My girlfriends gave me some lovely bride gifts, but I got my share of joke gifts along with them. I received a present with a big ribbon on top that turned out to be an elegant white evening bag made of satin with a crystal clasp on it. They put a pin and a shirt inside the bag that I had to wear for our night on the town, and there were some make-up and manicure accessories inside as well. I loved this pillow they gave me which had the word ‘tonight’ embroidered on a side, and then you turned it over and it read ‘not tonight’. What a crazy present that was, and I know I’ll have a lot of fun using that .
At our wedding reception there were no gag gifts, just very nice bride and groom wedding gifts from all of our friends and family. We got about three toasters, four blenders and lots of waffle irons, but that is to be expected when you have so many people attending your wedding. I was fortunate enough to receive a certain food processor and some fine china that I had requested on my bridal registry. My mother- and father-in-law gave us a bar side set and a pool table, and my husband thought it was absolutely wonderful, and has already planned a get together with the guys. The plane tickets to get to the Greek Isles for our honeymoon came from my folks. We received a lot of wonderful gifts on our wedding day from our loving families and fantastic friends.
Having all our friends and family around us on this more than special day meant more to us than anything. They have shared so much with us, our last night of being single parties, our engagement party, and our wedding and reception. Being surrounded with great, supportive people like them is what makes life so much more enjoyable. It also helps to have friends that care enough to throw you a wild night with a bachelor party or a mind trippin girls night out bash. Having friends in your life like ours can really make life worth living. Thank you notes could never begin to express how much we appreciate their love and support.
